NEWARK, DELAWARE

Newark service areas and address guide.

Give us the address where the furnace is installed. A mailing ZIP starts the conversation; it does not confirm the property or appointment.

If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, leave the building and call 911 from outside. Do not use switches or a phone inside.

The Newark ZIP list

Our Newark inquiry area uses the ZIPs below. Confirm the service street address, equipment and current availability when you call. The list includes mailing addresses used by homes, organizations and managed facilities; it is not a map of ten separate neighborhoods.

For 19711, 19702 and 19713, give the complete property address and unit number. If the ZIP on your correspondence is 19712, 19714, 19715 or 19725, use the furnace's physical address rather than a mailing address alone.

University and managed-building addresses

The University of Delaware uses 19716 for published university contact addresses and 19717 for residence-hall mailing addresses. Those postal uses do not establish that a building has a household furnace or that an occupant may arrange outside work. Follow the university or building maintenance process for university-owned equipment.

Christiana Hospital's published address uses 19718. If that code appears in your records, identify the actual property needing service. A hospital or another managed facility has different access and authorization requirements from a privately owned home.

For any rented or managed property, have the owner or facilities contact approve the work and access arrangement first. Do not enter a locked plant room or attempt to service shared equipment.

Establish the right permit authority

Use New Castle County's property information to check the municipality for the service address. County guidance explains that incorporated properties are outside its permitting jurisdiction. A Newark postal address alone is not the deciding field.

Newark Code Enforcement handles city permits and inspections. County Land Use is the starting point for unincorporated properties. Ask the appropriate office how the proposed work is classified before treating a repair, replacement or vent change as exempt.

Report outages to the utility on your account

If other electrical service is out as well as the heat, check the utility listed on your bill. Newark maintains an outage map for its electric customers. The city also publishes guidance for Newark-address residents whose electric service is supplied outside the city system.

Do not infer the fuel at a property from its ZIP. Tell us whether the equipment uses natural gas, propane, oil or electricity if you know. If you are unsure, an existing equipment document is more useful than a guess based on the neighborhood.

Find the right furnace question for your address

Newark's furnace guides are organized by the actual problem. Choose the symptom that describes your equipment, then bring the physical address and access details to the call.

Questions before you call

Can I use a post-office box as the service address?

A mailing address cannot identify where the equipment is installed. Give the street address and unit or building number of the property that needs heat.

Does the ZIP list include commercial furnace work?

This site focuses on residential furnace inquiries. An institutional or business mailing ZIP does not expand that scope. Explain the property and equipment before discussing a visit.
